With over 40 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, Garth is a huge asset to the Pharma Scout team.
Garth Littlewood has a prestigious history, not that you’d know it from his humble manner, quiet voice, and unassuming demeanour. Pharmascout was very proud to lure him out of retirement to join our ranks as a Sales Manager.
“I’ve worked in the pharmaceutical industry for over 40 years,” says Garth, “and spent about 20 of them with vaccines, working with distributors, pharmacies, clinics, and doctors. In essence, I’ve worked in the heart of cold chain management – but further down the line, before it gets directly to the patient. In addition to understanding the financial and regulatory challenges, this opportunity with PharmaScout allows me to let everyone in the cold chain know about PharmaScout’s all-in-one temperature compliance solution.”
Garth is well known and respected in the industry for his wealth of knowledge in cold chain compliance and temperature control monitoring. Over his decades working closely with those responsible for keeping the medicinal cold chain intact, he’s developed close relationships with nurses, pharmacists, and other personnel across the healthcare industry. “In the end, I think I really got a real sense of this challenge because I had direct contact with nurses who bought the vaccines, administered them and kept the cold chain running. Being close to them and understanding their business, I saw what their challenges were with equipment, costs, grudge purchases, and why they needed top tier fridges,” he says.
Now that he has retired, Garth is excited to have the opportunity to return to what he does best: providing his expertise to healthcare providers.
He started out in the 1980s working for Sanofi Pasteur – the biggest vaccine manufacturer in the world. “The industry is been very dynamic and has changed over the years – the way things are done from research, sales, to customer contact, and more. With vaccines, I’m very conscious that we’re doing some good. Children with meningitis can lose limbs, and the impact on families can be devastating. It was a really educational role.” More recently, he was a sales consultant at Next Biosciences, and was passionate about developing the people on his team.
We are excited to have him on board and continue to flourish with his expert help.
